The Building Department Staff at Amador County are committed to serving our customers and we are here to help you move your project through from submittal to final inspection.
Our mission is to safeguard the public health, safety and general welfare from fire and other hazards attributed to the built environment through the application of the adopted codes.
The Building Department processes building permit applications for construction in the unincorporated area of the Amador County, reviews plans, issues building permits, and performs inspections in order to ensure compliance with applicable state and county building codes.
The department also responds to a variety of general inquiries and provides code interpretations when needed.
Notice: Beginning on Jan. 1, 2017 all of the new 2016 California Building Codes will be in effect, all building permit submittals received on Jan. 3, 2017 (the first business day of 2017 for the county) or later shall be reviewed in accordance with the new 2016 California Building Codes.
Notice: Beginning on March 1, 2018 the new revised Building Department Fee Schedule and Building Valuation Data Table will go into effect as per resolution 18-010.

Applications are accepted and permits are issued in person between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:45 p.m. Monday through Friday. The last business day of the month the office closes at 3:00 p.m.
